Preface
Welcome to the official Desteria Rules & Regulations thread! When accessing any of our services, you are expected to abide by the following rules and conditions. Failure to comply may lead to a partial or complete restriction to the aforementioned services. With your cooperation, we can ensure that the network is a safe and healthy environment for all players.

Disclaimers
  • The rules stated below are not, in any way, an exhaustive list of offences that are punishable.
  • Any changes may be made to the following thread without prior notice.
  • Players are expected to familiarize themselves with the rules upon utilizing any of our services.
    • “I didn't know that was against the rules” will not be accepted as an appeal or excuse in any case. As soon as you join our network (any of it's platforms) and begin using them, we will treat you as if you had read the rules and agreed to them.
  • Warnings are a precaution against clueless new players and do NOT have to be given out against players who clearly know what they're doing. This said, it is within a Staff Member's rights to give warnings for tier one infractions as they see fit.
  • Joking about or pretending to break any rule may result in the same punishment as if the player were actually breaking the rule. It is not our job to determine whether or not you are joking or simply messing around with a friend.
  • If you make a statement about another user, we will assume it is true. If you release information, we will assume it is accurate. If you insult someone, whether or not they truly share the characteristic you insulted, we will assume they do for the purposes of punishing you.
  • Hindering staff's ability to moderate chat purposely is a punishable offense.

Tier One Offences
Mutes: 4h > 24h > 48h > Tempbans: 24h > 7d > 14d > 14d
1. No Harassment or Pessimism
The act of continued badgering or pestering of another player or Staff Member. You’re expected to behave respectfully towards your peers. Furthermore, constructive criticism has its place, but overtly negative or pessimistic statements serve no purpose and are not welcome in public chat.

2. No Spamming
Public chat is used by more players than just yourself and the person you’re speaking to. Any attempts made to hinder other users’ access to public chat through spam of any kind, or excessive capital letter usage, will not be tolerated. This rule also applies to users who wish to entice others into spamming.

Examples also include but are not limited to:
  • Repetitive Spam: Posting the same or similar message multiple times within 3 minutes.
  • Character Spam: Using an unreasonable amount of excessive characters.
  • Group Spam: A group of players that each post similar messages - all parties involved will be punished.
  • Offering something in return for player(s) to spam chat.
  • Spam Bots: Using multiple accounts to create massive amounts of spam automatically. Users will be banned for 30 days - this is the only exception to the spamming rule.

3. No Public Advertising of Foreign Trades
Desteria cannot guarantee your safety if you choose to partake in trades that involve external goods or currencies. Correspondingly, we ask that you keep offers of trades that involve such foreign currencies or commodities out of public chat. Desteria will not punish you for partaking in these trades, just be aware we cannot, and will not middleman or authenticate them for you.

4. Be Respectful
This rule aims to cover the usage of slurs or other derogatory comments. Any attacks made towards other users based off of individual characteristics or defining traits, or attempts made to shame other users for their beliefs, personal choices, or their lifestyles will not be tolerated. Variations of these words (real or fake) will also fall under this rule. You’re entitled to your opinion, but not the right to impose it on others. Be respectful of your peers. This rule also applies to users who wish to entice others into being disrespectful.

We've incorporated these words into the chat filter, so by default this is turned on and among some other choice derogatory words, are automatically censored out. However, if you would like to turn off the filter, you are able to do so.

Keep in mind that if you attempt to bypass the filter so someone who doesn't wish to see these words is forced to, then a punishment will be issued. If you have suggestions on what should be added to the filter, please contact @Omega

5. Don't Release Sensitive Information
Personal information you want to release yourself is allowed (this applies to general information such as first names, age, city, country, Snapchat, etc.). Repeating other people's personal information is not immediately punishable, but should that user decide they don't want that information on our networks, they should let a staff member know and we will take action against any player who continues to state that information.

Desteria does not recommend releasing any kind of personal information due to how easy it is to obtain someone's location, sensitive information, and other private details from simple facts you may think are harmless by themselves. We encourage everyone to stay as anonymous as possible on the internet since not doing so may result in information being released that you never wanted to be public.

Keep in mind that social media that is found through internet searches is NOT actually "DOX"ing since you've left it openly available for people to find, so please protect yourself by making sure your accounts are all private or not easily searchable via usernames or nicknames. We will only moderate our own servers and are not responsible for information found outside of that.

This rule only applies to Tier 1 Sensitive Information Release. If you're releasing anything sensitive such as IP address, full address, last name, etc - it will be treated as a Tier 3 punishment regardless of whose information it is.

6. No Inappropriate Content
Desteria’s public chat is not the place for the excessive discussion of any mature content nor is it a platform for you to share it. Use your common sense (as will we when choosing whether or not to punish you). Examples of such content include explicitly sexual or grotesque imagery, or links to websites, images, or videos.

7. No Threats or Suggestive Comments
Any statement made that suggests harm will or should come to another user, their family, friends, property, pets, or any other such aspect of their life that is NOT a part of Minecraft will result in immediate punishment.

Tier Two Offences
Tempbans: 7d > 14d > 30d > 60d > Blacklist
8. No Advertisements
Advertising other servers (through either direct IP addresses, Discord Invites, etc.) in public chat. Whether or not the IP is an actual IP, if it is structured as an IP address, or if it is a Discord link that goes to another server's discord, we will treat it as a functional address and you will be punished.
  • NOTE: If the rule violator is clearly not a player of Desteria and their only intent is to siphon players from our network, their offense will be met with a permanent ban.
9. Illegal Trapping
Any trap that doesn’t allow the victim to die, escape, or teleport out once the trapper leaves. All legal traps cannot force the trapped player to suffocate or take damage automatically with no player involvement.

10. No Abusing Glitches, Bugs or Exploits
Abuse of any exploit or bug found within the game may result in punishment. The only time interaction with bugs will be tolerated is when you have explicit permission from the Staff Team to be recreating them towards the purpose of it being fixed.

NOTE: Inappropriate use of in-game plugins or commands to cause spam or other mischiefs will result in a kick, and then a 24h temp ban. Examples include but are not limited to:
  • Spamming other users or Staff Members in PM
  • Blocking signs other players need to access
  • Spamming Factions commands
  • Using Faction commands to evade your mute
  • Using faction names to break or bypass rules
NOTE: Higher punishment durations may be dolled out as the situation calls for based on the severity of the glitch abused and the gameplay consequences involved.

Tier Three Offences
Bans: 30d > 60d > Blacklist. Some exceptions.

| Malicious Links
Any link that redirects to a malicious site designed to grab your personal information or install malware onto your machine. Examples include but are not limited to:
  • Phishing links
  • IP Grabbers
    • http://prntscr.com/jpblec - Here are some examples of IP grabbers, so that you can protect yourself against them. Credit to @Vin for creating this list.
  • Malicious software downloads
NOTE: Breaking this rule warrants an immediate blacklist.

| DoS Threats // DoX Threats // Hack Threats // Swat Threats
  • DoS Threats:
    • Threats of an attack that will be made against other users’ internet or any of Desteria’s servers.
  • DoX Threats
    • Threats of information release including users’ picture, social media accounts, full names, exact addresses, schools, IP addresses or any other information deemed private and/or sensitive by the Staff Team.
  • Hack Threat:
    • Threats made claiming the perpetrator will implant malware on another user’s computer or to break into one of their accounts.
  • Swat Threats
    • Threatening to send law enforcement to other users’ residence.
NOTE: All of the above infractions warrant a 60 day ban, but will follow the normal guideline for bans otherwise.

| DoS Attacks // Sensitive Information Leaks // Hack Attempts // Swatting
  • DoS Attacks:
    • Attacks made against other users’ internet or any of Desteria’s servers.
  • DoX Attacks // Sensitive Information Leaks:
    • Release of other users’ picture, social media accounts, full names, exact addresses, schools, IP addresses or any other information deemed private by the Staff Team. If necessary, unique cases will be handled as is appropriate by the Management Team. This rule aims to protect users privacy, not ban new players for not knowing better and harmlessly playing around.
  • Hack Attempts:
    • Attempts made to implant malware on another users’ computer or to break into one of their accounts.
  • Swatting
    • Sending law enforcement to other users’ residence.
NOTE: All of the above infractions warrant an immediate blacklist.

| Scamming Real Money
Any scam that involves a player tricking another user into paying them real life money with no compensation is punishable. If no real money was transferred or purchases were ever made, only in-game items were lost, no punishment can be issued. Keep in mind that agreements must be documented in order to hold players responsible. If no proof is available to display that both players have previously agreed to the terms of the agreement, then no punishment can be made.

| Offensive or Inappropriate Names or Skins
Any user with a name or skin that is discriminatory, offensive, or derogatory in any way will be banned indefinitely until they change their name or skin. At that point in time they will be unbanned upon appeal. This rule will be handled with the discretion of the involved Staff Member(s).

| Illegal Modification // Hacked Clients
Use of, or logging on with a Hacked Client on Desteria will warrant an immediate ban even if you aren’t using it. Use of any modifications to your game which would give you an advantage in gameplay, combat, factions, building, survival, etc, that others would not have reasonable means of obtaining themselves without said modifications is strictly prohibited. Furthermore, any modification that undermines the server’s intended functioning of plugins, features, perks, etc, are also prohibited. If you aren’t sure about the legality of a mod you’re using, ask a Moderator or higher before using the mod or client.

| Insiding or Betraying
Any purposeful action that directly or indirectly (significantly) lowers a faction’s F-Top value as a result. This non-exhaustive list includes unclaiming land, breaking down defenses to let others in, and mining or destroying spawners.
  • Criteria that is considered illegal:
    • Mining or destroying spawners within faction claimed land without permission.
    • Aiding others in their efforts to destroy spawners within the faction.
    • Unclaiming land to cause loss in faction value.
    • Any other griefing that directly or indirectly causes (significant) faction value loss.

  • Criteria that IS NOT considered illegal:
    • Mining or destroying spawners during a raid in order to save them.
    • Griefing that doesn’t cause F-Top value loss.
    • Unclaiming land that doesn’t cause F-Top value loss.
    • Stealing items from chests. Permissions are there for you to utilize them to prevent this from happening.
    • TPA’ing others outside of faction claims.
    • Revealing faction coordinates to the public.

Any modifications to your game which would give you an advantage in terms of combat, factions, building, survival, or otherwise, that others would not have reasonable means of obtaining themselves without the mods, are strictly prohibited. Further, any modification that undermines the server's intended plugins, features, perks, etc are also prohibited. Pretending to have an illegal modification (also known as fake-hacking) and trying to imitate the features is also prohibited.

The following is a non-exhaustive list of modifications that are considered legal and illegal on our network. Credit for @Navi for originally creating this list and maintaining it up until now.

Legal modifications to Minecraft include:
--------------------------------------
- HUDs
- Minimaps // With no player trackers
- Keybinds // Command Macros
- Optifine // FPS Boosting Mods
- Toggle Sneak/Sprint Mods // BetterSprint 1.8 is NOT allowed

- Damage Indicators
- Better PvP Mod // Auto-Pot, Macro for auto eat, quick-use, and Minimap (with player locations) should all be disabled
- Brightness Mods
- Replay Mod
- Schematica and World Download Mods
- 5zig mod or LabyMod
- Liteloader
- TCPNoDelay
- Schematica mod is allowed for outlines only

Illegal modifications to Minecraft include:
--------------------------------------
- Hacked Clients of any kind
- Minimaps that show and track players, mobs, or underground caves/structures
- Autoclickers, double clickers, etc.
- Inventory Tweaks
- Raid Alerts
- X-Ray Texture Packs
- Fly Boost
- Action Macros or Mods // Macros or mods that enhance player abilities against other players and give unfair advantages to yourself. Examples include auto-sell hand-bots, spam bots, etc.

To be abundantly clear, this is NOT an exhaustive list of what is and isn't illegal on Desteria. If you have questions about something you'd like to use, DO NOT ASSUME IT IS LEGAL. Ask a Staff Member, preferably a Moderator+, and they will clarify for you whether or not that software is legal on Desteria. Just because you didn't know something was illegal DOES NOT mean we will not punish you for using it.

Gameplay Rules and Regulations

| Faction Strike System
Each faction will get 6 warnings per map before they're disbanded. Faction Leaders will receive a warning (viewable on the bans page) and will also be notified via /mail. Any online members will also be notified if a warning point is issued.

| Disclaimers
Rule Bending:
Any attempt to intentionally warp the meaning of, misinterpret the phrasing of, or take advantage of being ignorant of the rules themselves will be subject to the discretion of the Management Team in how we want to proceed. This also applies to the rules themselves and their intended purpose.
Evidence Submission:
We will not act on sub-par or incomplete evidence. We want to make sure we're being as fair as possible, so our guidelines for proof need to show that there's absolutely no doubt that it happened. If we cannot 100% determine what's going on, we may decide it's better to hold off on a punishment while more proof is obtained. Please keep this in mind when submitting evidence of someone breaking the rules.
Warnings:
Warning points are there to discourage people from continuing to break the rules. If a warning point has to be given more than once for failure to abide by the rules, it will come with additional repercussions on top of the warning point itself. Depending on the situation, administrators may decide to give a certain amount of time to the faction to fix the issue themselves before issuing any additional punishments.

| Definitions
To better assist you in understanding our rules, we've put together a list of definitions that will prove useful to you while you read our rules. Please let us know if there's anything else we need to add.

Core Claims:
This is defined as the usable space inside your claims, often surrounded by outer walls. This does not include your buffer claims.
Buffer Claims:
This is the area directly around your core claims that you are allowed to claim. You can have up to a 20 chunk radius around your core claims for defenses, counter cannons, and other structures.

Counter Cannons:
A cannon built inside your buffer claims that can be used only to defend the base it sits in. This means you can’t use a counter cannon from your base to help defend your ally if they are being raided next to you.

Main Base:
The culmination of your faction’s core claims, buffer claims, and everything inside those claims.

Proliferate:
To increase in number or spread rapidly and often excessively.

Superfluous / Superfluously:
  • Being more than is sufficient or required; excessive.
  • Unnecessary or needless.
Defending Claims:
Claims that are meant to allow a defending faction to go beyond their normal buffer claims and claim next to or behind a raiding faction’s cannon in order to destroy it. These claims should not interfere with the raiding cannon’s line of fire.

Raiding Buffer:
The space between two faction’s bases that allows raiding factions to successfully build a cannon to raid either base. This space should be no less than 30 chunks.

Faction Merging:
When two factions agree to merge their members, their base, their f-top value, etc. into a single faction. This could either be a brand new faction or one of the existing factions.

Faction Splitting:
When a single faction decides to split into more than one faction (usually when it is way ahead in f-top value) in order to gain multiple f-top rewards using two or more factions and splitting it’s f-top value across them.

| Claiming Rules

Buffer Limit:
If multiple factions want to share an area, they are allowed to do so - however each faction will be required to claim their own base, which includes core claims AND buffer claims. Faction A cannot claim the buffer or core claims for Faction B. This also applies to alt factions. Failure to abide by these rules will result in all factions involved receiving a warning point.

Punishment: All factions involved receive a warning point.

Buffer Claim Overextension:
If you claim more than 20 chunks for your buffer claims, you will receive a warning point and have your claims (and walls, if you built them) forcibly removed. Additionally, you may also receive warning points if your faction attempts to build non-claimed defenses in the opposing faction’s cannon line of fire.

Punishment: Faction’s claims will be removed and a warning point will be given.

Raiding Buffer:
Factions need to allow 30 chunks between the end of their buffer claims and another faction’s buffer claims. If you fail to abide by this rule, the faction that was most recently constructed will receive a warning point.

Punishment: Warning point will be issued, and the most recent faction’s claims will be removed up to the 30 chunk buffer that’s supposed to be there.

Defending Claims:
You may place additional claims to defend yourself against a raiding faction as long as those claims are not in between the opposing cannon’s line of fire and your base. This said, the expectation is that as soon as the enemy faction’s raid claims are removed - you will also remove your defending claims. Failure to do so in a timely manner will result in a reclassification of your claims as an overextension of your buffer and you will be warned for it.

Raid Claims:
Any claim outside another faction’s base that is at least 2 chunks by 2 chunks (2x2), and at most 10 chunks by 10 chunks (10x10). You must claim all of your raid claims, including the walls you use to defend those claims. Other factions, regardless of their status, are not allowed to “help” you with your raid claims. You must leave a 7-chunk area on one side of your cannon to allow defenders to counter.
Your claims should support & include any adjusters/floaters you need to make your cannon functional within it’s 10x10 space. Any claims outside of the 10x10 will be removed if found and a warning will be given.
If you are found building defenses in wilderness in order to counter a defending faction’s counter cannon, you will receive a faction warning. If it continues past a warning, users may be tempbanned if they continue. Additionally, you may also receive warning points if your faction attempts to build non-claimed defenses in the opposing or defending faction’s cannon line of fire.

Punishment: Excessive raid claims will be removed and a warning point will be given.

Anti-Raid Claims
Anti-Raid claims are zones outside your normal buffer claims that can be used to build another cannon to blow up / incapacitate the raiding faction's cannon. These claims cannot be any larger than 7x7 and cannot interfere with the raiding cannon’s line of fire, or be used as extra walls. Failure to follow this rule will result in a faction warning and removal of your anti-raid claims. Additionally, you may also receive warning points if your faction attempts to build non-claimed defenses in the opposing faction’s cannon line of fire.

Punishment: Warning point will be given and claims will be removed entirely. Additional warning points will be given if you are found building non-claimed defenses.

Active Raid:
During an active raid, genbuckets and printer will be considered illegal to use while patching. A raid remains active for defenders 5 minutes after the last shot. Video proof must be provided if you wish to report someone for patching during an active raid, which must show the user witnessing the TnT explode and patching it within a 5 minute window afterwards.

Punishment: Users who break this rule will be banned for 30 days.

Applies to Drego only
Once a cannon fires on a faction base, it will be considered an “active” raid and no other cannons should be operating during this time. The active raid will continue until 10 minutes after the last shot was fired. After the active raid has ended, you may shoot your cannon immediately and start your own active raid.

Punishment: If you are caught breaking this rule, the progress you made will be rolled back and the cannon may be removed.

Base Leeching:
During an active raid, only the factions involved in the raid (defenders and attackers) should be participating. You may get kicked or tempbanned if you are caught assisting either side during an active raid. Any damage that can be proven will get rolled back as well as items taken away.

Punishment: Any damage done to a faction’s base that can be proven to be part of an illegal raid (due to firing during another faction’s active raid) will be rolled back.

Nuisance Claims:
Any claim that encroaches on another faction’s base, which includes the core and buffer claims. We classify these claims as nuisances because they serve no other purpose other than to hinder a faction’s progress with no additional effort required. Each faction has a right to their own 20 chunk buffer. Cannons that don’t breach a wall with every shot will also be categorized as nuisance claims as well as improperly or unused raid claims.

Punishment: These claims will be removed after they are reported. Additional issues will have warning points issued.

Corner Claim:
Each faction may only have one corner per map per realm. If you have an alt faction, you may not claim a second corner during the same map on the same realm.
If you’re able to successfully claim the exact corner of a faction’s base, you will get full ownership of that corner core claim and surrounding buffer claims. If you are found illegally obtaining the corner claim, you will not get to keep it. This addendum only applies to corner bases.

Counter Cannons:
Any structure that contains a cannon will be considered a cannon / counter cannon. This being the case, if any spawners or farms are found inside the same structure as a cannon, they are at risk of being removed.

Punishment: If anything but a cannon is found inside your cannon box, it will be removed. Continued persistence will result in additional warning points.

| Illegal Stuff

Illegal Defenses:
Covering spawners in any block and watering it, as well as covering spawners in obsidian is illegal and will result in complete removal of the structure, including any spawners that were inside. All spawners must be ceggable once a base has been breached.
Unraidable blocks, if found, should be reported immediately as a bug and to management. Failure to do so may result in additional punishment. Reporting issues and not taking advantage of them is the only way to keep yourself from being punished.
Regeneration walls are not legal. If you find a way to create any type of self-repairing wall that uses water and lava in any manner, it will be removed and you will receive a faction warning. If you aren’t sure it’s legal, please check with the management team prior to building it on the main realms.
Using obsidian superfluously to protect your spawners will result in those protection blocks being removed and a warning point being given. Examples of this are covering spawners completely except for a single block, using waters and doors to falsely say it’s ceggable, making a single line of trapdoors or other objects that require the user to use an excessive amount of creeper eggs to get to your spawners.
Finnster walls must be limited to 20 walls per base. If your finnster walls exceed the 20 wall limit per base, they will simply be removed and you'll receive a faction warning point. If you are caught trying to bypass the 20 wall limit in any way, you may receive additional warning points.

These are a few examples and is not an exhaustive list of what we consider superfluous usage. Please contact the management team if you have questions about whether a design is legal.
Illegal Cannons:
There are only a handful of cannon technologies that are outlawed on Desteria. If your cannon falls under any of these categories, it is considered illegal:
  • Uses a redstone timer to fire repetitively without the need for a button press for every shot. (I.E.: Auto cannon)
  • Cannons that rely on automatic input from an alt or similar device.
  • Is capable of destroying more than one wall per button press.
    • Preloading sand is fine as long as you only destroy one wall per button press.
  • Exists for no other purpose than to generate lag. (Lag machines, overcomplicated cannons, and piston farms.)
  • Is, or functions similarly to an AC130 cannon.
  • Is, or functions similarly to a Flux Cannon.
Players found abusing any of the illegal technology will be rewarded with a faction warning point. If it continues, we will begin banning all players involved. Please approach the management team if you have questions on whether your cannon is legal if you aren’t 100% sure.

Punishments: If you are caught using the cannon, you will be banned for 30 days, the cannon will be completely removed, and any damage done to a faction’s base will be rolled back. If you are found with a potentially illegal cannon, you will receive a warning point and it will be broken.

Alt Factions:
Alt factions are allowed, however they do need to follow a guideline in order to not be subject to scrutiny. You cannot use your alts / alt faction to assist you in faction raids, or to check your walls. If a Moderator or higher finds an alt near your walls, we will kick it from the realm. If it continues to log back in immediately, it will be tempbanned instead.

F-Top Addendum:
If you’re using “bases” to proliferate out your f-top value to the extreme and for the sake of making your value virtually “unraidable” - we will take action against you, which may include, but is not limited to the following:
  • Complete removal (world edit out) of your base(s).
  • Issue warning points to your faction.
  • Disqualify your faction completely from the F-Top competition for the remainder of the season.
You may merge or split for the first week of grace period. Any other merging or splitting after grace period has ended will be considered illegal merging & splitting and will be punished accordingly. Please approach an administrator+ for specifics on what you can and can’t do if you aren’t 100% sure.
If you were kicked or you left your faction, you may not bring any of that faction’s f-top value with you to a new faction. Please try to do this before the grace period ends in order to be considered for the f-top contest.
Each faction can only win on a single realm per season. This includes Drego, so if you commit to playing drego (as it does not continually run), you will not be able to win any f-top rewards from the main realms.
A faction going for F-Top rewards is defined as an entity of players under a single faction name, however their alt factions will also be taken into consideration when calculating the F-Top winners.
If you want to have multiple factions, please create them at the start of the season and as two separate factions. Splitting later on in the map may be subject to punishment.

What is Screensharing?
If a Moderator+ suspects that you might be using a hacked client or an illegal modification they will freeze your Minecraft character forcing you to remain still. A message will pop up in your chat saying the following:

Don't panic. You'll be instructed to join the Discord. If you're wondering "Well how can I join the discord if I don't know it?" Don't worry, we'll give you an invitation link and instructions as to how to join via PM.

NOTE: We search for Auto Clickers, Clients, Booters, IP Stressors, Raid Alerts tech, and anything else listed as illegal under the rules.

Rules and Process
The following will result in a ban (appealable in 60 days):

  • Disconnecting while frozen - This means logging out of Desteria while you were frozen.
  • Stalling - That involves joking around constantly, ignoring instructions, or anything to prevent the screenshare from progressing. You'll be warned once only.
  • Refusing to Screenshare - Not downloading the given links that the Moderator provides or not joining the Discord in 5 minutes. Recording screenshares or refusing to stop recording.
  • VPNs - Use of a VPN is not permitted under any circumstance.
  • Usage of illegal modifications - Any illegal or suspicious modifications found being used on Desteria at the time of the screenshare or evidence that the above have been used.
  • Illegal Programs - If software of this sort is found on the user's computer regardless of whether it is used or not will result in a permanent ban from the server. This includes, but is not limited to the following: Booters, IP Stressers, programs that make screensharing tools ineffective, minecraft string cleaners, and CCleaner (or similar programs) used after MC starts.
  • Editing your recycling bin directly before a screenshare - This will result in a ban.
  • Autoclickers - if used in the last 10 days of when the screenshare takes place.
  • Macros - any autoclick, double click, or other similar macros will be banned for immediately.
  • Failure to follow ANY instructions given by the Staff Member - This involves refusing to give mouse control or access.
  • The usage of ANY Ghost / Injectable Client - This will result in a removal from our network no matter the date of usage.
  • Device Removal - any removal of any device (USB's, External hard drives / SSD's) during a minecraft session will result in a ban.
The following will result in a ban (appealable in 30 days):

  • Admitting to using illegal or suspicious modifications BEFORE the screensharing process starts.
  • CIA - CIA stands for caught in action. We use this for players that are not needed for screensharing and that are obviously hacking.

Other Notes:
When you get into the Discord, you'll be asked to download a screensharing software called AnyDesk.

When being screenshared, Staff Members may go through your files, web browser history, recycling bin, etc.

When being screenshared you must
NOT record any part of the screenshare. We will look to see if you're recording and if we do find out that you're running a recording of us, we'll ask you to stop recording and to delete the footage. If you refuse, a punishment will be issued.

Do not worry about getting any viruses from any of our screenshare tools, they are safe and will cause no harm to your computer.

If we end up finding
ANY illegal modification, Hacked Clients, illegal macros, ghost clients, etc being used on Desteria, you will be banned and will be given a chance to appeal 60 days after your ban. You MUST NOT appeal right when you get banned.

AnyDesk
It's likely most of you are not familiar with the program we use for screen sharing. Hopefully this gives you a better understanding of how it functions.

Click here for the link to the AnyDesk download page.

When you're finishing downloading and running AnyDesk the Staff Member will go ahead and ask you for your AnyDesk ID. Most players get confused and panic but it's not hard to find. Here's a picture of where it's located:

Now, this ID is going to look different from yours but this is the general location for your ID. You'll be able to right-click the numbers and click "Copy Invitation" or just click the "Send Invitation" button right under the numbers and from there you can paste it in the chat to the Staff Member. When the Staff Member joins through the link you'll see another AnyDesk notification pop up in your taskbar and that's them accepting to view your screen. Here's a picture of what it looks like:

Be sure to uncheck the allow to hear sounds box and then hit accept. Then your screen will be live to the Staff Member.
When the Screenshare is finished, simply hit "Dismiss" and that will make whoever is watching disconnect and not be allowed to reconnect without your permission to accept.

Hello, hello, Desteria! To dispel any confusion about our mute and ban evasion policies here on Desteria, the Management team sat down and properly discussed the issue. In order to reach a compromise in which players are never unfairly punished for factors out of their control and are given chances where necessary, but also so that cheaters are properly addressed and punished, we've produced the following policy.

____________________________________________

BAN EVASION POLICY
Definition:
For a player to join our network, at the same time when one or more accounts under their ownership are restricted for any reason. Ownership is determined by a shared IP-Address.
Punishment:
Any accounts found online while sharing an IP with a banned account will be forcibly removed and restricted from the server. Staff members are able to detect linked accounts and will take action without warning to the offending player.

NOTE: Ban evasion will result in an extension of the current punishment by 1 level.
Sidenote: Evading a KOTH deathban will result in a 24h ban.

CONCERNS AND QUESTIONS
What if I use a publicly available alt?
Public alts will be treated no differently than a normal alt. If you use a public alt and get it banned, even if you did not purchase the account originally, we will be looking at the last-in-use IP (yours) when searching for other accounts that might potentially be evading the alt's ban. If you get yourself banned with an alt, you're putting your main at risk for ban evasion. Don't do it.
What if it was my brother / grandmother / dog (etc) who got their account banned?
If you are banned for evasion, but the original offender was a family member or friend using the same IP as you, you may appeal ONCE. The next time someone sharing your IP is caught, the ban will be permanent and un-appealable.

In order for your appeal to be accepted, you MUST organize a time with a Moderator+ in which ALL you, your relative that was originally banned, and the Moderator+ could join a discord voice channel. You and your relative both need to talk from the same microphone under the same discord account. You and your relative MAY be asked several questions to prove that there was indeed a second party involved rather than a ban evasion case.
What if I used a public shared IP (i.e. school or library)?
It is easy to find if your IP truly links to a public network. Make an appeal and an Administrator or higher will look into it.

____________________________________________

MUTE EVASION POLICY

Definition:
Logging into alternate accounts to be able to talk as normal in chat while muted on your main is considered mute evasion. Ownership can be determined by a shared IP address. Punishment will be delivered based on the circumstance and at the discretion of the involved Staff Member.
Punishment:
If you are discovered to be mute evading, your punishment on the originally punished account AND the alternate account(s) will be the next punishment scaling upwards of what your main originally received. For example, if the account IMuteEvade was muted for 24h, and the individual got on the account IMuteEvadeToo and was found guilty of mute evading, now both IMuteEvade and IMuteEvadeToo will be muted for 48h. This stacking continues for every account thus found guilty.

CONCERNS AND QUESTIONS
What if I get on an alt but I don't talk?
If you have only been found guilty of a mute you are free to log on as long as you do not talk in public chat.
Can I message a staff member to discuss a mute?
Of course, you are allowed to message a staff member to discuss your mute but as stated above, if you are found evading your mute by talking in public chat you will be punished as described above.

Our system of forum moderation utilizes "Warning Points".
Each time a rule is broken, the offending post is deleted and a certain amount of warning points are issued to the offending user. Evasion of a ban based off warning points will have the ban elevated higher.

The following thresholds are in place for the warning system:
5 Points: 3d Ban
6 Points: 7d Ban
7 Points: 14d Ban
8 Points: 30d Ban
9 Points: 60d Ban
10 Points: Permanent Ban

|Ratings Spamming
[Warning Points: 1]

Either having a friend "boost" your rating amounts rapidly, or spamming others with unwanted ratings due to a personal disagreement or the like.
|Public Advertising of Foreign Trades
[Warning Points: 1]

Desteria cannot guarantee your safety if you choose to partake in trades that involve external goods or currencies. Correspondingly, we ask that you keep offers of trades that involve such foreign currencies or commodities out of public chat. Desteria will not punish you for partaking in these trades, just be aware we cannot (and will not) middleman or authenticate them for you.

|Troll Posts // Applications // Accounts
[Warning Points: 1]

Accounts, posts, and applications made solely to cause trouble, upset, or waste time, will be removed. The owner's main account will receive the punishment. Staff reserve the right to determine and define what exactly counts as a "troll" post, application or account.
|Microposting // Ratings Farming
[Warning Points: 1]

• Microposting: Posting minimal words without meaningful conversation or without adding anything to the content of the topic in question. (eg. "first", "k")

• Ratings Farming: To create alts to farm likes, comments, or other positive remarks or ratings. This includes getting friends/acquaintances to needlessly rate your posts, as well as doing so for other people.

|Harassment // Pessimism
[Warning Points: 2]

The act of continued badgering or pestering of another player or Staff Member. You’re expected to behave respectfully towards your peers. Furthermore, constructive criticism has its place, but overtly negative or pessimistic statements serve no purpose and are not welcome in public chat.
|Recreating Locked Threads
[Warning Points: 2]

Locked threads are locked for a reason - do not re-post them, or similar content. Applies to deleted threads as well.
|Threats // Suggestive Comments
[Warning Points: 2]

Any statement made that suggests harm will or should come to another user, their family, friends, property, pets, or any other such aspect of their life that is NOT a part of Minecraft will result in immediate punishment.
|Inappropriate Content
[Warning Points: 2]

Desteria’s public chat is not the place for the excessive discussion of any mature content nor is it a platform for you to share it. Use your common sense (as will we when choosing whether or not to punish you). Examples of such content include explicitly sexual or grotesque imagery, or links to websites, images, or videos.
|Personal Attacks // Slurs // Offensive Behaviour
[Warning Points: 2]

This rule aims to cover the usage of slurs or other derogatory comments. Any attacks made towards other users based off of individual characteristics or defining traits. Attempts made to shame other users for their beliefs, personal choices, or their lifestyles will not be tolerated. You’re entitled to your opinion, but not the right to impose it on others. Be respectful of your peers.

|Inappropriate Name // Profile Picture
[Warning Points: 3]

Just like Inappropriate Content, your name or profile picture is not the place to show off mature content, nor is it the platform to share it. Please use common sense when choosing a name or profile picture. Examples of such content include, but is not limited to, explicitly sexual or grotesque imagery.
|Sensitive Information Release
[Warning Points: 3]

Any sensitive information regarding another user distributed without their explicit permission could warrant a punishment. Information about other users lives is not yours to distribute even if you find it publicly available.

Furthermore, it is not the job of the Staff Team to ascertain proof as to whether or not the information you’re releasing is valid. If you claim ‘x’ is someone’s address, even if it is not, you will be punished as if it is. Also, there is no way for us to prove whether or not information you claim to be releasing about YOURSELF is truly your own or that of someone else. This said, save for information such as first names and other basic details about yourself that you may choose to share - any identifying sensitive information released ANYWHERE on our network may result in your being punished.

Beneath is a non-exhaustive list of mutable offenses:
  • Age, Cities (or general area of residence), State

|Advertisements
[Warning Points: 5]

Advertising other servers’ IP addresses in public chat. Whether or not the IP is an actual IP, if it is structured as an IP address, we will treat it as a functional address and you will be punished.
  • NOTE: If the rule violator is clearly not a player of Desteria and their only intent is to syphon players from our network, their offense will be met with a permanent ban.

|DoS // DoX // Hack // Swat Threats
[Warning Points: 9]

  • DoS Threats:
    • Threats of an attack that will be made against other users’ internet or any of Desteria’s servers.
  • DoX Threats
    • Threats of information release including users’ picture, social media accounts, full names, exact addresses, schools, IP addresses or any other information deemed private and/or sensitive by the Staff Team.
  • Hack Threat:
    • Threats made claiming the perpetrator will implant malware on another user’s computer or to break into one of their accounts.
  • Swat Threats
    • Threatening to send law enforcement to other users’ residence.
|Malicious Links
[Warning Points: 10]

Any link that redirects to a malicious site designed to grab your personal information or install malware onto your machine. Examples include but are not limited to:
  • Phishing links
  • IP Grabbers
    • http://prntscr.com/jpblec - Here are some examples of IP grabbers, so that you can protect yourself against them. Credit to @Vin for creating this list.
  • Malicious software downloads
|DoS Attacks // Sensitive Information Leaks // Hack Attempts // Swatting
[Warning Points: 10]

  • DoS Attacks:
    • Attacks made against other users’ internet or any of Desteria’s servers.
  • DoX Attacks // Sensitive Information Leaks:
    • Release of other users’ picture, social media accounts, full names, exact addresses, schools, IP addresses or any other information deemed private by the Staff Team.
  • Hack Attempts:
    • Attempts made to implant malware on another users’ computer or to break into one of their accounts.
  • Swatting
    • Sending law enforcement to other users’ residence.

NOTE: The rules for the Desteria Discord can be found in the #rules channel of said Discord.
